*LIFE OF THE RIVER–Annette Tarpley*

LIFE OF THE RIVER

There is life in the river, downstream through a valley it flows
The essence of the river’s soul, guided by wind as it blows

Listen to the water rushing, it speaks to you…a refreshing voice
Entranced you will become; you will be drawn in by your choice

The river is fed by a mountain stream, from snow melted…waters fresh
Those who come and partake of the scenery, find their souls blessed

For the river is much like life, continuing to flow despite debris
It’s movement melodical, making its own music…elated it’s free

In the soul of the river, fish will swim about and spawn
The waters are warm during the day, cooling down at dawn

The river is the life, to all whom partake of its wonders
Barreling along, it washes away all of life’s plunders

Eventually the river will join and merge with the sea
It’s waters forming a powerful wave…its soul in ecstasy
