Hope for Life
I looked at life,
and life was without hope,
so I became the air
And I breathed life back into life.
But life had no desire to live,
because life had lost her will.
And so I became the wind
and I bore life upon the air currents
and she soared above the earth,
but fell to the ground again
when the wind became a breeze.
Life had become parched and dry,
so I became the rain
and I poured water into life.
But Life only used the water to cry
tears of defeat.
There seemed to be no hope for life
Until I gave her wings of her own.
Then like a bird she fluttered and floundered,
and then she flew away.
She flew above the earth,
above the trees, above the din.
She flew above the stench of
life, and soared to the
She breathed the sweet air and cried no more tears.
Her strength had returned
and oh what a beautiful sight.
I went on my way.
I didn’t look back.
Life had found hope again.
